Driverless Truck Crashes In Hingham

In addition to falling trees and debris, police also responded to a report of a truck moving without a driver.

HINGHAM, MA — In case trees and branches flying all over town wasn't enough, police in Hingham also had to respond to a report of a crash involving a car with no driver.

At about 11:57 a.m. Monday, an officer blocking the area near Burditt Avenue and Fearing Road for downed trees and wire reported that she saw a truck crash into a pole. This car, however, lacked a person behind the wheel.

As it turns out, this was not the result of a ghost operator or any Halloween-related antics. The owner of the vehicle admitted to police that he stepped out and left it in gear.
