End of Summer Classic Road Race

Registration for the 9th annual End of Summer Classic 5 miler is filling up quickly.

The 9th annual End of Summer Classic 5 miler is scheduled on Friday evening, August 26th @ 6:30pm. The long standing event, held at Bare Cove Park, has often been called the most fun race on the South Shore and was recently voted the best 5 mile race by the South Shore Road Race Guide. The closed, fast course follows the Back River as it weaves thru the park and offers shade and a peaceful atmosphere that is uncommon in most races.

Over the years the event has attracted some of the area's best runners in addition to hundreds of average weekend warriors and recreational walkers. Because it occurs on a Friday evening and ends at sunset, it lends itself to a festive atmosphere which includes post race food, music, awards by Saucony and Marathon Sports and a finish line village. Runners tend to mingle after the race for the added social benefit. This year it will also feature a very unique post race celebration at nearby Ames Chapel. New local brewery, Barrel House Z and Craft Beer Cellar, Braintree will be providing samples along with pizza from Comella's Homemade Italian Food. What a great way to start the final weekend before Labor Day.

Proceeds from the event benefit the continued support of Bare Cove Park. The race is reaching its maximum threshold so if you want to participate don't wait to register online. The organizers don't anticipate providing a late registration option. For information or the register go to www.endofsummerclassic.com
