The Garden Club of Hingham presents “Garden Palettes of Hingham”, a tour of seven private gardens, Friday, June 8 and Saturday, June 9 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. Tickets are $20.00 in advance or $25 if purchased on the tour. Tickets are sold at the following places: Artisans in the Square, Hennessy News, La Petite Maison, Noble’s Camera Shop, and Talbots, all in Hingham Square; The Hingham Public Library; The Glass House in South Hingham; Talbots in the Derby Shoppes; The Country Garden in Weymouth; Kennedy’s Country Gardens in Scituate; and Fleming’s of Cohasset Village.
The gardens are all exquisite and offer different experiences including a white fenced horse pasture with surprise plantings along the fences, formal perennial gardens, woodland walks, and flowering terraces with pond views. I addition there are restored early 1900 century gardens, rose, rock, and organic vegetable gardens. One house has an infinity pool that gives the illusion of flowing into the Weir River while another house has marsh views with urns, stone animals, chimes, and tree jewelry to delight the visitors. To enhance the outstanding visual experience of the tour, plein air artists will be painting in many of the gardens.
Andrea Wilson, Chairman of the Garden Tour Committee is thrilled with the variety and quality of all of the gardens. She explains,” This tour is enjoyable, and inspirational for all; gardeners and non gardeners will experience a day of color and beauty. In addition avid gardeners will most definitely get new ideas for their own gardens.”
