Pranayama Intro Series

Pranayama is a form of meditation based on regulating and observing the breath. In the eightfold path of yoga, it is the step immediately after asana (poses), and it leads to the other deeper forms of meditation. The Yoga Sutras describe pranayama as one of the most powerful practices of yoga – it has the potential to relieve stress, increase mental focus and physical health, and promote feelings of balance and centeredness. This series of 6 classes will be held for 6 consecutive weeks, and will introduce students to the practice of pranayama. In each 45 minute session students will learn a new pranayama technique, hold a pranayama practice, and have an opportunity to discuss their pranayama experience. The course may be taken either in conjunction with a Saturday morning asana class or separately. Although yoga poses will not be performed in class, some experience with yoga poses is required. $50, 6 classes ($40 if purchased with a yoga mulit-class package)
