Families Invited to Fly Kites Above Hingham

Kite Day is March 30 at the South Shore Country Club.

Kites will be flying high above the South Shore Country Club next Saturday.

The 18 hole golf course will hold its annual Kite Day event on March 30 as a way to kick off its 2013 season.

“If you ever wanted to fly a kite, this is the event for you,” said Mark Tedeschi, a media representative of the South Shore Country Club.

Families are welcome to bring their own kites or purchase one at the event and fly them above the country club’s greens.  The free family event will also include clowns, hotdogs and hayrides.

“The Country Club tries to do a few community events per year and this is a way to bring families in,” Tedeschi said.

Kite Day will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., rain or shine. Sea Side Kites of Hull will be on hand to offer kites for high-flying activities, while world-renowned clowns “Fruit and Jingles” will once again provide the laughs.

The South Shore Country Club course opened in mid March but closed due to snow. Jay McGrail,the superintendent and the Director of Operations at the SSCC projects golfers to be out on the course again by April 1.
