Guitarist William Riley to Perform at Hingham Library

The free performance is part of the "Saturday Sounds Special" series sponsored by the Boston Classical Guitar Society and the Hingham Public Library.

Classical guitarist William Riley will present a  free solo performance at the this coming Saturday at 3 p.m.

Riley's performance is part of the “Saturday Sounds Special” series sponsored by the Boston Classical Guitar Society and the Hingham Public Library. Performances are offered free to the general public. Series is partially underwritten by Scituate Federal Savings Bank. 

Riley is an active guitarist and educator. He currently lectures and directs Classical Guitar studies at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.  The performer is also on the music faculty at New England Conservatory Preparatory School, and teaches a large studio of young guitarists as Director of the Childbloom Guitar Program of Boston.

Riley has won prizes in several national and international competitions, including first prize in the ECU National Guitar Competition 2000, fourth prize at the 10th International Guitar Competition at the Portland, OR Guitar Festival, and semi-finalist at the 2001 Guitar Foundation of America International Competition. He has served as a competition judge for both the Northeast Guitar Festival and the Boston GuitarFest.

The performance will be held in the Hingham Public Library's Whiton Meeting. Seating begins at 2:30 p.m.
