Hingham Farmers Market Opens This Weekend
The award-winning Farmers Market is back until Thanksgiving.
It’s that time again for fresh seasonal produce, homemade baked good, and handmade crafts.
The Hingham Farmers Market will open its 2013 season Saturday at the Hingham Bathing Beach.
The markets will be held every Saturday from May 4 to November 23, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

The Hingham Farmers Market has been operating at the beach since 2007, although there has been a farmers market in the town since 1977. The market operates by permission of the Trustees of Hingham Bathing Beach under a capacity constraint by mutual agreement, which allows for a maximum stall size per vendor of ten by ten feet. A seasonal fee of $325 to cover the 29 weeks of operation is then paid by those who want to bring their product to the public and is limited to forty vendors
Mark Cullings, Chairman of Hingham Farmers Market said having a local market is key. A former airline pilot, Cullings was brought in to provide leadership to the organization and after five years of operation as a larger entity, he sees the market as an enterprise zone.

“These are individuals who have designed and brought a product to market to sell direct to consumers,” Cullings told Patch.
