Hingham Man Charged in Quincy Chase
Police say a vehicle sped away from police during a traffic stop.

HINGHAM, MA - A Hingham man was arrested in Quincy after allegedly fleeing from a stolen vehicle.
Ryan Spath, 24, was charged with receiving a stolen motor vehicle. Additionally, Shawn Murdock, 36, of Quincy, was charged with speeding, failure to stop for police, red light violation, marked lanes violation, operating to endanger, operating with a suspended license, receiving a stolen vehicle and an outstanding warrant for unarmed robbery.

On April 7 at about 5:10 p.m., an officer observed a Nissan Altima allegedly speeding on Sea Street. After pulling the vehicle over, the officer discovered that the car was reported stolen. The operator was instructed to turn the car off, roll down the window, and place the keys on the hood. Instead, the car, operated by Murdock, sped down Quincy Shore Drive.
Police lost sight of the vehicle due to traffic and the weather, but it was located at the Quincy Commons apartment complex on Canton Road. One witness said he saw four people running from the vehicle towards French Street.

Spath was located as he was exiting an elevator in the building while Murdock was allegedly found hiding in an elevator.
The two other passengers in the vehicle were not found.
