“This is a dream come true,” McDonough said in a release. “One of my favorite memories of my childhood was watching Monday Night Football with my Dad, who I know is smiling down on me today. I am humbled and deeply honored to have the opportunity to be a part of the most iconic franchise in the history of sports television.”

McDonough is no stranger to the area. He is a Hingham High School graduate and excelled as a Patriot Ledger All-Scholastic tennis player.

As a broadcaster, he has done play-by-play for the Boston Red Sox, Major League Baseball on CBS, the Olympics, and several college sporting events for ESPN.

McDonough makes his debut at the Hall of Fame game on Aug. 7, but Patriots fans will want to circle Dec. 12 on their calendars. That's when the Patriots host the Ravens in a Monday night showdown.
