Hingham Native to Speak at Memorial Day Observation
Hingham will observe Memorial Day at 11 a.m. Monday.

Due to severe wet weather, the ceremony has been moved to Town Hall at 11:00am.

The Town of Hingham Department of Veterans’ Services and the Hingham Veterans’ Council are proud to announce that the Annual Memorial Day Observance will be held on Monday, May 30, 2016. Hingham Town Moderator, Michael Puzo, will begin the ceremony promptly at 11:00 a.m. on the Town Common.
All Veterans and their families, the HHS Band, and Scouts will be pre-positioned on Middle Street. Honor/Color Guards will be in the park and the general public is invited to congregate on the Common. Please feel free to bring a chair

The Principal Speaker will be Hingham native: Major Michael Manning, US Army, Secretary of the General Staff, Joint Force Headquarters, Rhode Island National Guard.
The HHS Band, under the direction of Brian Cincotta, will perform several pieces of patriotic music, including our National Anthem.
Officials’ remarks will be followed by the reading of names of those Hingham Veterans who have passed since Memorial Day 2015. Wreaths will be laid in honor of all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
Rifle Salutes, Bugle Calls, and Flag Honors will be followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, all veterans and their families are invited to lunch at the GAR Hall, served by Old Harbor Catering.
All student participants will be treated to ice cream on the Common provided by Nona’s of Hingham Square.
In the event of inclement weather, the entire Ceremony will be conducted at Sanborn Auditorium in the Hingham Town Hall.
