Hingham Police Collecting Items For Hurricane Harvey Victims

Items can be dropped off in the police department lobby at Town Hall.

HINGHAM, MA — As Houston grapples with the deadly Tropical Storm Harvey, which brutalized the city and the Texas coast, Hingham residents are lending aid.

After a resident asked the Hingham Police Department if they could use their lobby as a collection point to drop off items for Harvey victims, the area has been packed with items such has clothing, food, and diapers.

The police department will be collecting until 2 p.m. Wednesday. If you can't make it to the station, there are plenty of other ways to help:

The New England Patriots and the Kraft family will match up to $1 million in donations to the American Red Cross in support of the Hurricane Harvey Disaster Relief Fund.

The City of Boston will sponsor a "Help for Houston" drive through Aug. 31. Items needed include new clothing and blankets, toiletries, diapers, baby formula and non-perishable food items. Donations may be dropped off at the following locations:
