Hingham police said an alarm apparently scared off burglars after a basement window was smashed.Police said the suspect entered the basement after smashing the window about 5:15 Sunday, but fled the house without taking anything after the alarm sounded. Police ask that anyone who saw something out of the ordinary - including a strange person or car - in the area, contact Det. Philip Tracey at 781-741-1443.
