Hingham Salesman, One of 32 Men Arrested In Child Porn Sweep

Peter M. Galvin, a salesman at Eastern Yacht Sales in Hingham is one of 32 arrested by state, local, and federal authorities for child pornography.

State, local, and federal law enforcement authorities announced on Tuesday the results of a weeklong, statewide sweep of child pornography suspects which includes a Hingham salesman.

The sweep, a series of raids and search warrants executed throughout Massachusetts dubbed “Operation Corral,” resulted in arrests of 32 men charged with possession or dissemination of child pornography.  who works at the on Route 3A in Hingham.

Galvin was arrested on April 3 and was arraigned in and was released on $7,500.

State Police said the investigative leads were coordinated by the Massachusetts Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC), and were executed by State Police Detective Units assigned to the state’s District Attorney’s Office and Attorney General’s Office, Boston Police, Worcester Police, and numerous other local police departments.

According to an article on the BostonChannel.com, victims include thousands of toddlers found in various poses, some of whom have been identified and are alive.

The suspects range in age from 17 to 62, and Galvin is the oldest suspect charged.

“Our work is not done. It will never be done as long as even one child suffers the horrible trauma of sexual exploitation,” Superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police Colonel Marian McGovern said in a written statement. “But let this work you see before you serve as a stern message to those who prey on these children and support the evil trade that exploits them—we will never stop coming after you, day after day after day.”

Boston Police Commissioner Davis added the following statement: “This remarkable and strong cooperative effort undoubtedly sends a strong and clear message that law enforcement agencies throughout the Commonwealth will be relentless and diligent in our efforts to hold accountable the most disturbing and perverse of suspects who attempt to operate and evade authorities under a cloak of technology while victimizing our most vulnerable population.”

Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley said she hopes law enforcement will continue to improve the ways they use technology to investigate.

“Child pornography is the exploitation of children, and that exploitation has been made even more prevalent by the growth of the Internet and technology," Coakley said in a statement. "It is why it is so important that all of us in law enforcement continue to improve the ways we use technology to investigate, prosecute, and prevent these crimes." pornography laws."
