Hingham Selectman to Face O'Connor in State Senate Race
Hingham Selectman Paul Gannon will represent the Democrats in the race for the Plymouth and Norfolk Senate seat.

HINGHAM, MA — The state's Democratic party has selected a Hingham selectman as their nominee for the Plymouth and Norfolk Senate seat.
Selectman Paul Gannon will face incumbent Patrick O'Connor of Weymouth this November. Gannon previously ran for the seat during a special election last spring, losing to Hull's Joan Meschino in the primary.
In a statement, Mass. Democratic Party Executive Director Jay Cincotti said the decision came following a meeting of an ad-hoc executive committee consisting of local state committee members and local Democratic town committee chairs.

"Candidates met with the committee for over an hour discussing their campaigns and visions for the seat, after which the committee met to deliberate and make a recommendation to the chairman. The recommendation to the chairman was that Paul Gannon be the Democratic nominee," Cincotii said.
Meschino had won the primary but she pulled out of the race prior to the vote to run for state rep. in the Third Plymouth District.
