Dharma Dreams Vocational Center

Dharma Dreams Vocational Center is a nonprofit vocational and life skills program based in Hanover, Massachusetts, serving young adults ages 18–26 with moderate cognitive disabilities. Our mission is to help students build practical job skills in the trades, confidence, independence, emotional regulation, and workplace readiness through hands-on vocational training and supportive learning experiences. The program was created in response to the growing need for meaningful transition opportunities for young adults as they move beyond high school and into adulthood. Many families struggle to find programs that combine practical workforce preparation, life skills development, communication skills, confidence-building, and supportive real-world learning experiences. Dharma Dreams offers hands-on exposure to vocational areas such as landscaping and grounds maintenance, painting and surface preparation, workplace professionalism, entrepreneurship basics, and life skills training. Students also learn mind-body techniques that support focus, confidence, emotional regulation, stress management, and workplace success. Our introductory summer program, launching at the end of July, is designed to help students and families become familiar with the program and explore vocational interests before participating in longer-term programming. Long-term programming focuses on helping students develop greater independence, workplace readiness, responsibility, confidence, and practical trade skills through structured, hands-on learning experiences. Dharma Dreams Vocational Center aims to create supportive pathways toward greater independence, meaningful employment opportunities, and a stronger sense of purpose while helping young adults feel valued, capable, and connected to their future potential.

The mid-week Hingham Farmers Market has returned for another year. Last Wednesday marked the official first day of the 5th season of the Hingham's  "Square Market." Every Wednesday through October 23, local vendors will be selling produce, baked goods and more right at the corner of North and Main Street in front of La Petite Maison. Last week, for its opening, produce vendor Mary Bujukian of Hanson sold fresh strawberries, radishes, red lettuce, sugar snap peas and zucchini, Great Cape Baking offered fresh baked breads and Riverside Gardens sold tomato and basil plants, lavender, thyme and other potted herbs. Vendors also include Sadie Mae's cupcakes and baked goods, and DL's fresh squeezed juices, hand squeezed right on site, according to Farmers Market director Mark Cullings.  Live music will be featured every other week by Ramshackle with wonderful acoustic guitar melodies, according to Cullings. The Square Market is made possible by the support of Hingham Savings Bank, Nobles Camera Shop and La Petite Maison.  It will run each week from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
