Hingham Up In Statewide School District Rankings

HINGHAM, MA — School Digger, a nationwide school rankings site, released its updated list of top Massachusetts schools and school districts Thursday, and the Hingham Public School System was ranked higher than it was a year ago. In the new rankings, which were based partially on MCAS test data the state released last week, Hingham was 15th, up from 18th a year ago.

The rankings mean Hingham performed better up than 95.5 percent of all other districts in the state. That's their best performance against other schools, according to data going back to 2010.

Thursday's School Digger release also showed how individual schools in the district compared to every other school in the state:

• South Elementary, 17th of 934 elementary schools.
• Foster Elementary, 30th of 934 elementary schools.
• East Elementary, 31st of 934 elementary schools.
• Plymouth River Elementary, 87th of 934 elementary schools.
• Hingham Middle School, 43rd of 476 middle schools.
• Hingham High School, 18th of 340 high schools.
