Hingham Town Manager Announces Retirement

Ted Alexiades is retiring early to take care of his father.

HINGHAM, MA — Ted Alexiades will soon no longer be a Hingham employee.

The selectmen announced at a recent meeting that town administrator of 23 years will enter early retirement at the end of the year. Through an announcement read at the meeting, he said is leaving at 53 to take care of his 85-year-old father, who lives in California and has Alzheimer’s disease.

"I have come to a fork in the road. I can let others take care of my father in his final years or I can care for him myself," he said.

He'll officially be retired as of Dec.31, 2017, but he'll likely be at town hall through September. Assistant Town Administrator Thomas Mayo will likely serve in an interim role during the search for a permanent replacement, according to the Patriot Ledger.
