Hingham, Weymouth Teacher Charged With Assaulting Student
Police said the teacher turned himself in. He was released without bail after his arraignment.

HINGHAM, MA — A music teacher at a private school turned himself in Wednesday on a charge of indecent assault and battery, police said.
Matthew D. Browne, 53, of Scituate, was a teacher at the Saint Paul School in Hingham as well as Sacred Heart Elementary School in Weymouth. Former students told police Browne touched them inappropriately and made them feel uncomfortable with his behavior, the Patriot Ledger reported. According to Hingham police, the incidents happened in one of the classrooms in October. No complaints were made against Browne at Sacred Heart, according to Principal Gretchen Hawley.
Browne was arraigned at Hingham District Court on Wednesday on a charge of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14. He was released without bail after his arraignment and is scheduled to return to court March 1.
