Many authors say they kept journals at young ages, and Bonnie shares that connection. She self-published “The Dog that Could Talk” in first grade, and is now working on “The Lucky Book.” Reading at the third to fourth grade  level, Bonnie reads the newspaper, cites Judy Blume as a favorite author, and loves “Diary of a Wimpy Kid.”

“She has a good base and love for reading that will help propel her in the future said Bonnie’s mother, Shelly Passios. “And she is an excellent speller.”

Bonnie did the first reading at her First Communion ceremony earlier this month. She described reading in front of a large audience as “not scary. I was not nervous at all.”

Bonnie plays soccer, lacrosse and basketball, and completed a course in sign language last year. She is currently scrap booking through Foster Plus, her school’s extracurricular program, singing “Tomorrow” from the play “Annie” for  music class, and taking jazz at Dance Steps on Lincoln Street.

Mrs. Martin is her influential teacher.

“She is the best teacher and makes learning so much fun,” Bonne said with enthusiasm.

Her mom, Shelly, said she comes home every day happy and appreciates that Mrs. Martin teaches Bonnie to be nice to everyone.
