Hull Man Charged With Fifth OUI Charge After Nearly Hitting Police Cruiser

A Hull man faces his fifth drunken driving charge after getting pulled over by police in Hingham Thursday night,

Mark Nixon, 54, was arrested and faces additional charges including operating to endanger, marked lane violation and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle according to the Hingham police log.

The Patriot Ledger reports that Nixon was driving on Route 3A when he forced a police officer to serve to avoid a head-on collision. Before Nixon was pulled over, police observed the vehicle swerve and drift across the yellow line.

Nixon was arrested after he failed a field sobriety test. He pleaded innocent during an arraignment hearing at Hingham District Court Friday. He was ordered held on $10,000 cash bail.
