Author to Visit Foster May 3
Author, illustrator and Boston native Matt Tavares will visit the third graders at today, May 3. Tavares, author of Henry Aaron’s Dream, Mudball, Oliver’s Game and others, will discuss the process of writing and illustrating a book, from the rough draft through the final drawings.

Senior Project to Benefit Father Bill’s Place
seniors Avi Worrell and Molly Kafka are conducting a donation drive for Father Bill’s Place for their senior project. Requested items include new socks, new linens and toiletries, including toothbrushes, toothpaste, packaged razors, et cetera. A complete list of needed items is posted next to collection boxes outside the main office. Donations will be accepted from May 10-13.

Singer-Songwriter Showcase June 1
Hingham High students are encouraged to sign up to participate in the 5thAnnual Singer-Songwriter Showcase on June 1 in the auditorium. Interested singer-songwriters may see Mr. Cincotta in the band room no later than Friday, May 6, to reserve your time.
Notre Dame Hosts Holocaust Survivor
Holocaust survivor Steve Ross spoke to the Notre Dame Academy junior class on April 15. Ross, who was condemned to the camps as a nine year old in Poland, was liberated by American soldiers and later immigrated to the U.S. Ross told of his time in the camps, but also encouraged the students to value America. The presentation ended with a standing ovation and the crowd broke out in song, singing “God Bless America,” Ross' favorite song.
East Elementary Launches Energy Audit Contest
and (HMLP) announce a contest to determine which classroom can sign up for the most home energy audits. The energy audits, conducted by HMLP, are free, and can help families find ways to save money, improve air quality and help the environment. With improved efficiency and insulation, families can save 30 percent on heating and cooling bills and reduce their carbon footprint, as well. Wednesday, May 4 is an early release day for the . Afternoon kindergarten will not attend.
