The James Library and Center for the Arts Presents Desserts Under a Paper Moon
Benefit dessert and wine tasting supports mission

The James Library and Center for the Arts offers sweets, treats and aperitifs at Desserts Under a Paper Moon, Friday, May 12, 7:30 pm, 24 West Street, Norwell. The benefit fundraiser features desserts, cocktails and wine selections for tasting by South Shore businesses. All proceeds raised will benefit the James’ mission to inspire creativity, learning and an appreciation for the arts through music, visual and literary programs at its historic Victorian arts center. The event is sponsored by Jennifer and Mark McGreenery.
An evening of decadence during Mother’s Day weekend, Desserts Under a Paper Moon features signature desserts from some of the South Shore’s finest bakeries and dessert chefs, live music, wine and cocktails, pictures under a paper moon, and more! Boutique bakers and confectioners showcase their best in elegant presentations, featuring the latest in gourmet trends including almond butter pound cake with chocolate ganache and flourless chocolate mini cakes by Cooking with Abby; banana bread pudding with caramel cream sauce by Leena’s Kitchen; chocolate espresso tortes with strawberries by Hola; cupcakes by Sadie Mae’s Cupcake Café; fruit tarts by French Memories; red velvet and white and dark chocolate mini cake cups by Whole Foods Hingham; chocolate, strawberry and coffee milk in chocolate cups by Hornstra Farms; fresh fruit to cleanse your palate from Fresh Market Hingham; and something special made by The Chef’s Table.. Guests enjoy mingling with friends over a vast array of fine wines generously supplied by Kappy’s Wine and Spirits and coffee martinis and cold brew created by Rosa Farms. All three floors of the restored Victorian arts center lend the evening ambiance set against a backdrop of fine books, original art, festive décor and the sounds of live music entertainment. Vintage flair attire is encouraged!
Tickets are $75 each, limited to 125 guests, and make a perfect Mother’s Day gift. A dessert and wine grab is available for $20, with a value of $25 per gift, and all guests will have the opportunity to win signature sweet treats made by “local talent,” local home bakers with a gift for creating memorable confections. Since 1874, The James Library has served the South Shore community as a warm gathering place. Housed in a landmark Victorian in historical Norwell Center, The James is dedicated to serving the community by providing high-quality programs, resources and materials through a concert hall, art gallery and the operation of a free lending library.
