Man Barricaded Inside Hingham Home Kills Himself

Hingham police and a MetroLEC team were at the scene starting at 9 p.m. Saturday.

HINGHAM, MA — A man killed himself after barricading himself inside a Hingham home late Saturday night, authorities confirmed.

At about 9 p.m. Saturday, Hingham police responded to a report of a distraught man inside an Edgar Walker Court home. At the scene, police secured the area and were assisted by a Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council SWAT team, according to the Plymouth County District Attorney's office.

Residents in the Conservatory Park area were notified by a reverse-911 call of the police presence in the area and were asked to remain in their homes.

At 7:15 a.m., the man, whose name has not been released, was found dead from a gunshot wound. The case has been accepted by the Office of Chief Medical Examiner.

The suicide is under investigation by state police detectives assigned to the DA's office.
