Walter Pashko

Bill Flynn and Walter Pashko, colleagues at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and longtime friends, formed the core of a group of artists who drew together for six to eight hours one day a week for forty years.

Bill Flynn is an artist, teacher and author of Armed Chair, a collection of more than 220 drawings of a stripped down antique armed chair that became a metaphor for the war in Iraq. Flynn served as a drawing professor of ART at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston for forty-five years. He has shown in Boston and New York and is represented in many private collections including the Boston Public Library and the Museum of Fine Arts Boston.

Walter Pashko (1930-2006) was a member of the faculty at the School of The Museum of Fine Arts Boston for over 30 years. He taught drawing and printmaking, including etching, monoprinting, lithography and woodcut. Pashko studied painting in Hartford and traveled to Mexico City on the GI Bill where he sought out artists who could teach him the techniques of fresco and mosaics. During his years there he also learned how to make prints.

Walter & Me: For Reasons Unknown —is sponsored by Panopticon Imaging of Rockland.

Paintings and drawings by Bill Flynn and Walter Pashko will be on display from September 18 through November 8 in the Bancroft Gallery. Gallery hours are Monday through Saturday, 10-4, Sunday, 12-4.
