The definition of art is the expression or application of human creative skill or imagination.    It can come in many forms, from your 5 year old daughters drawing on the fridge, to the world’s most famous painting, The Mona Lisa. It has the ability to affect your senses, emotions, and intellect in a way that is completely unique to each individual.

The Annual Hingham Arts Walk is a celebration of the arts in all its forms. It offers the opportunity to meet local artists, walk open studios, view painting and craft demonstrations, as well as enjoy poetry, live music, and dance.

This year the Arts Walk will be featuring some talented High School musicians.

At the corner of South & Main downtown from 12:00 – 2:00 pm will be Closer than We Appear. They formed in 2009 and were recently one of the eight finalists in NAMM’s SchoolJam USA national battle of the bands. They have also played at the MGM Grand Theatre at Foxwood, The Hard Rock Café, as well as the famous CNote in Hull.

From 2:00 – 4:00 pm will be Claire Masto. Claire recently released her debut album, “Things Will Get Better”.    She is a 15 year old high school freshman with talent that has been recognized nationwide through the power of social media. She has 50,000 YouTube views, 312 YouTube subscribers, and 146 Twitter followers.

Further down the road at the Hingham Community Center you will see another form of expression, dance. The Community Center offers classes for everything from ballet, to tap, modern, Hip Hop, and Isadora Duncan for dancers as young as two through high school. Their talents will be on display from 12:00- 2:00 as the Hingham High School dancers and Community Center Hip Hop classes rock it out!

The Hingham Arts Walk, which is now in its 7th year, is put on & funded by the Hingham Downtown Association with support of the Hingham Cultural Council. It is one of three annual events sponsored by the H.D.A. The others are Christmas in the Square (December 7th and 8th), and the springtime event Taste of Hingham.
