HINGHAM, MA — The athletic director opening at Hingham High School is quite the popular position. Superintendent Dorothy Galo told the school committee this week that they have received 86 applications for the opening. She said that part of the reason for large amount of applicants is because the position was advertised on online educational job board SchoolSpring. "When you advertise on SchoolSpring, there are often people who don't meet all of the qualifications," Galo said. "In that 86, there are many who are coaches but don't have any leadership or academic experience." Not all 86 candidates will be interviewed. A search committee will choose who to bring forward for interviews and a paper screening will aim to cut down the number of candidates.
