NFL Team Hires Hingham Scout

Terry McDonough of Hingham was hired as the Eastern Regional Scout for the Arizona Cardinals

NFL scout and Hingham native Terry McDonough was hired by the Arizona Cardinals this offseason.

McDonough was hired as the Eastern Regional Scout in hopes of helping the Cardinals return to the playoffs, according to the teams’ website.

The Cardinals have not made the playoffs since losing to the Pittsburg Stealers in the Super Bowl XLIII in 2009.

McDonough previously scouted for the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was their director of player personnel for the last four years. Prior to joining the Jaguars in 2003, he worked for the Cleveland Browns from 1992-95 and then accompanied them to Baltimore, working for the Ravens from 1996-2003, according to the Cardinals’ team site.

At Hingham High School, McDonough was all-conference in  football and baseball, and also lettered in basketball before he transferred to Bridgton Academy.

Terry will now join his brother Ryan in Arizona. Last week, Ryan was hired as the Phoenix Suns’ general manager.

The two Hingham brothers are the son of the legendary Boston Globe reporter Will McDonough and brother to ESPN broadcaster Sean McDonough.
