oops...

I incorrectly typed Joby Norton's name in my previous blog post.
My apologies Joby!

Joby Norton is the proprietor of Mullaneys Harborside Fish in Scituate Harbor
and a good friend to South Shore Seafood Exchange a nonprofit, community-supported fishery in Scituate, Massachusetts, that provides fresh fish from our hard working local fishermen from our local waters.  Be careful folks when buying fish labeled 'local' fish.  What is local?  The question to ask the purveyor of the fish you buy is 'Where was this fish landed - or caught and when?  Our 'local' fresh fish is caught off the shore of Scituate Harbor.  Our fishermen filet the fish in Scituate.  Some fish for sale in our community is landed in Russa fileted in Vietnam, shipped to USA and shows up in our local food store chains!  When do you suppose this fish was caught? Something seems terribly wrong to me about this.  Especially since our fishermen and the local fishing industry are going broke due to unwarranted government regulations.

We have a gem of a resource we are going to lose.  I guarantee you if you taste the fish Sossexi distributes you will never want to eat fish that has not been caught locally.  Soosexi fish is so fresh it can be frozen and thawed and you will not taste a difference.  This is not my opinion we have 200 members to attest to this fact.

Sossexi goals are two-fold: to re-establish a link between the local fishermen and the surrounding communities to allow the public to acess this freshly caught native resource.

Our fresh fish is caught, cleaned, filleted and distributed in biodegradable zip lock bags in Scituate, Cohasset,Hanover,Marshfield and Norwell with more locations opening continually.  As I said our fish never leaves Scituate until distribution.  No carbon footprint, great for the environment and great for us all!
