Papa played the fiddle and

Mama played her tambourine.

They would play the old songs

And Mama would sing.

I always loved to listen,

To the old songs they would sing.

Papa sawing on his fiddle

And Mama’s tambourine would ring.

The neighbors would come to listen,

And clap after every song.

The people loved to listen,

And some would sing along.

It was a get together

Of family, friends and neighbors.

Singing always brought relaxation,

And relief from their labors.

Now those days are gone,

And it is hard to understand.

People are too busy,

And it is detrimental to our land.

We have electronics to entertain us,

TV, I-Pads, Games and I-Phones.

People seldom go outside

Their time is spent inside their homes.

We have come too far with progress,

Everyone is occupied with a device.

The enjoyment people use to know,

Electronics is our price.
