Police Investigating Suicide Attempt At Hingham Retirement Complex

HINGHAM, MA — A shooting at a senior housing complex was a suicide attempt, police revealed Tuesday.

Monday afternoon, police responded to an incident at the Linden Ponds Retirement complex in Hingham. Police say a man inside the library suffered a self-inflicted gun wound. A preliminary investigation indicates that the person with the gun, an 84-year-old resident, fired two gunshots as part of an apparent suicide attempt.

Police say the shooting was an isolated incident. No other residents or staff were injured.

Hingham Police are working with the residents and staff of the Linden Ponds complex to offer them assistance. The incident remains under investigation.
