Roof on Historical Hingham Building Collapses

Police have blocked off portions of Hingham Square due to a roof collapse.

The snow has taken its toll on a building located on South Street in Hingham Square.

Around midday, public safety officials responded to a roof collapse at the Lincoln Building, closing off roads in the area to traffic.

Hingham police say that South Street at Main Street and Central Street along with Main Street at South Street and North Street will remain closed until further notice.

While the apartments on the second and third floors of the 19th century building were condemned, the first story remained occupied by a business. No one was injured according to NECN.

Charlene Flynn, the owner of the building, told WHDH that she was process of obtaining the necessary permits to tear down the building.
