PHOTOS: Hingham Celebrates Christmas in the Square
Hingham residents brave a damp December night to say hi to Santa.
Despite the damp conditions and the signs that a proper New England winter is just around the corner, Hingham residents were out in force to welcome Santa to the Square.
Riding a red Hingham fire truck, his preferred mode of transport when he comes to town, Santa was greeted by dozens of excited children and adults as he made his way down Main Street. Waving to the crowds, he was soon sitting in his chair and finding out who had been naughty or nice in the last year.
This was the 30th time that the town had come together for Santa's visit, with local businesses opening their doors to serve hot drinks and snacks. The sound of singing school children filled the air, while the annual Festival of Trees at the Old Derby Academy was a popular way to round off the evening.
