SCITUATE, MA — Two people have been displaced Friday after a two-alarm fire in their upstairs apartment at 394 Gannet Road.
Wendy Gallagher who lives at Gannet Road with her husband Patrick told the Patriot Ledger she turned the heat on when she woke up, and quickly smelled smoke.
A malfunction in the heating system appeared to start a fire in the attic near the chimney, Scituate Fire Chief John Murphy said. The damage to the building was for the most part, contained to the second floor and the back of the residential/commerical building, he told the Ledger.
