Shellfishing Returns to Hingham

Shellfishing season started on July 11.

Hingham, MA — After a four-year absence, commercial shellfishing is back in Hingham.

Harbormaster Kenneth Corson recently told the selectmen the the town has open its beds at the request of the state Division of Marine Fisheries, according to the Boston Globe.The reopening is due to an increase in the shellfish population.

Shellfishing season started on July 11 and 15 permits were sold. Licenses were sold at a prorated fee of $75 for residents and $117 for nonresidents.
