Hingham SWAT Team Arrest: New Details

Police say the man was wanted by the Boston Police Department.

HINGHAM, MA — The man wanted by Boston Police and arrested by SWAP and local police had allegedly threatened to shoot any police he encountered.

The Hingham Police Department released a statement Saturday morning following Friday's arrest, in which officers verified the suspect and a woman were in a Fottler Road home. Police at about 1:30 p.m. shut the street down and evacuated nearby residents, securing the area around the house and requesting the Metro-LEC SWAT team.

The Hingham School Department notified parents of children in the area so they could be kept at school or picked up elsewhere. (Keep up on local happenings by subscribing to Hingham Patch!)

The woman, who was not wanted by police, exited the house while the man then ran out the back door. He was confronted by officers and a Weymouth Police K9. The man ran back inside, only to come out the front a short time later and be taken into custody on the front lawn.

The man was transported to the Hingham Police station and later transferred to Boston Police. He will be
charged in Hingham District Court.

His name is not being released because he was not arrested on charges by the Hingham Police.
