The History of the Town Hall Building

Did you know was once located in what is now the building on Central Street?

Hingham’s old high school was first established in 1928 at a much debated cost of $275,879, a sum that many townspeople at the time believed was too high. 

The building became Central Junior High School when the new High School opened in 1954. 

Today it’s home of the Hingham town offices, the , the , the Senior Center, and .
