Tour De South Shore Set to Run Through Hingham

Registration now open for the South Shore bike ride.

Those Hingham bike fanatics followed the Tour de France last month can now participate in a local bike competition of their own.

Registration is now open for this September's Tour de South Shore, which starts and ends at the in Hingham and travels across Cohasset, Scituate, and Norwell.

According to the race organizers, the McCourt Foundation, the ride features a scenic coastal course with "beautiful ocean views and quaint New England scenery."

The race is scheduled for Oct. 5 and will begin at 7:30 a.m. for the 50-Mile Ride and 9:00 a.m. for the 25-Mile Ride.  Riders may park their vehicles at Wompatuck State Park.

Participants must be at least 12-years-old to ride and any rider between 12 and 18 years of age must have a guardian sign a permission form.

Proceeds from the event benefit the McCourt Foundation, dedicated to a world without Alzheimer's or MS.

All participants must wear a helmet, have a road worthy bike, and are asked to bring a change of clothes for when you finish the ride, a totaled pledge sheet, and all collected donation.
