Traffic Stop Turns Into Drug Bust In Hingham

HINGHAM, MA — A Dorchester man stopped for speeding in Hingham is facing drug charges after police said he was found in possession of nine bags of suspected heroin and nearly 200 tablets of suspected steroids. Luis M. Caba, 33, was arrested on an outstanding warrant during the stop with a search of the car of Caba discovering the drugs and $2,665 in cash.

Police said Hingham Officer Scott Tracey stopped Caba's 2008 Nissan Altima for speeding on Route 3A about 2 p.m on Sunday. When an a records check came back with an outstanding warrant for driving with a suspended license, Caba was placed under arrest.

Police said Caba was found to have a baggie in his pocket that contained nine smaller baggies filled with a brownish power believed to be heroin. A search of the car discovered $1,200 and 198 tablets believed to be steroids in the center console. An additional $1,435 was in his wallet.

Caba was charged with possession of heroin and possession of steroids. Police said he was released on $500 bail and scheduled for arraignment.
