Two Hingham Mothers Receive Assistance in Expanding Their Business

Hingham moms Joan Ripple and Kirsten Lambert’s disposable bed sheet business Beantown Bedding LLC was named one of 128 Global Finalists for the 2013 MassChallenge Accelerator Program.

The accelerator program will assist  Ripple and Lambert grow their business by giving them a world-class mentorship and training, free office space, along with access to funding, media and more.

“It is a tremendous honor,” Lambert said of being named to the program.  “We definitely have our sights on growing our business.”

The 2013 class was selected over a six-week evaluation process led by hundreds of industry professionals in the Boston community and dozens in Israel. In June, the finalist companies will convene in Boston to engage in the four-month accelerator program. The 2013 season is poised to draw the most community engagement to date. 

MassChallenge is the largest-ever startup accelerator, and the first to support high-impact, early-stage entrepreneurs with no strings attached.

Ripple and Lambert’s “Bedsox” are biodegradable and compostable bed sheets that can be used for several weeks and simply discarded in the trash or compost instead of washing. 

The sheets are currently available at Sorcha on North Street in Hingham, Harvard University’s campus bookstore, the COOP, the Barnes & Noble campus bookstores at Boston University, and at www.BeantownBedding.com.
