Two Hingham Teams Knock off Top Seeds, Advance to D2 Championships

Both the HHS baseball team and girls' tennis team knocked off the top seeds this week to advance o the finals of their state tournament.

Boys Baseball

The Hingham High School varsity baseball team defeated No. 1 Nauset in Bourne in 10   innings on Thursday, winning 3-1. 

Winning pitcher Evan Flanagan had a stellar performance with 16 strike outs and added two key hits.

The Harbormen will play Stoughton High on Sunday at 5pm at the Brockton Rox Stadium in Brockton for the D2 South Championship. 

Girls' Tennis

The Hingham High School Girl's Tennis team upset No. 1 seeded Foxboro (17-1 regular season) to win 3-2, in their 3rd match of the MIAA Division 2 South Sectionals.

Hingham being the 4th seed in the tournament (19-2 on the season) took on Foxboro Thursday afternoon in Foxboro.  

In first singles, Emma Alderman from Hingham, defeated Emma Prinos from Foxboro  6-0, 6-1.

In second singles, Diana Prinos from Foxboro defeated Danielle Vanzura from Hingham 6-1, 6-3.In third singles,  Hallie Young from Foxboro defeated Laura Hern from Hingham 6-3, 6-1. 

In first doubles, Maxine Bergstein and Delaney Dunlap from Hingham, defeated Mary Harris and Caroline Muise from Foxboro 6-4, 6-0.In second doubles, Nikki Lund and Ashland Stansbury from Hingham, defeated  Morgan Milander and Sophia Jaberi from Foxboro 6-0, 6-0.  

Hingham is looking forward to playing Scituate in the D2 Finals on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Norwell
