Video: Local Architect Displays his Cartoons at the Hingham Public Library

"Hingham Through the Years": the cartoons of Al Kearney is available for viewing at the Hingham Public Library.

 Local architect and cartoonist Al Kearney is now exhibiting selections from his life’s work in the Clemens Gallery at the Hingham Public Library.

His cartoons will be on display until June 2 and are available for purchase with 25 percent of the proceeds being donated to the library.

 “I’ve been doing it for 15 years and I thought it would be a great idea to share with the community,” Kearney said.

Kearney operates a local architectural firm, yet his artistic passion is centered in cartooning.  Kearney, a Braintree native,  who has lived in Hingham for over 15 years has created and published hundreds of cartoons since joining the Hingham Journal in 1996.

In his cartoons, Kearney makes humor out of complex local issues and current events.

“People love it, and they think it’s funny,” said Kearney’s assistant Christine Smith. “A lot of  the issue are what people forgot about; It’s kind of a walk down memory lane.”

“Hingham Through the Years”: the cartoons of Al Kearney are available for viewing in books at library and each cartoon has a number which can be used for placing orders.  The cartoons are also framed on the wall and will be sold for $125 each.
