Woman Thought She Did The Right Thing, Turns Out She Was Pranked

What was in the envelope? Not $5,500

HINGHAM, MA — A woman who thought she was doing the right thing ended up being the victim of a silly prank over the weekend.

Saturday, a woman found an envelope marked "$5,500" in a parking lot in Hingham. Being an honest person, she brought what she thought was an envelope full of money to the police station. When police opened the package, they only found newspaper clippings with a value well below $5,500.

Hingham police posted on Facebook that the woman didn't know that she was tricked, but commended her for doing the right thing.
