5 Things You Need to Know Today: Aug. 26
Sports, music and dog baths--the perfect ways to spend time while awaiting Irene.

1. By now you know to make preparations for Irene’s possible but uncertain arrival on Sunday. Patch will have local coverage before, during and after. Ahead of her arrival, there’s plenty to do here in Holliston.
2. Music is said to soothe and with storm preparations swirling, we all may need some. At 1 p.m., Lou Ranieiri and his band perform at the Town of Holliston at 150 Goulding St.
3. And later at 8 p.m., to be precise, Mike Tarara performs at .
4. Want to see how defending Super Bowl champions pose for pictures? It’s HHS Panthers Foootball Media day on Saturday. In the morning, the players will smile for individual and team shots and in the afternoon, they’ll do a run through, all in anticipation of a title defense that starts in early September.
5. Your dog is probably going to get wet over the weekend, but he or she can be clean and smell nice for a while if you take him to the Baypath Humane Society’s Dog Wash. It’s at the Holliston Meadows Pet Resort at 140 Summer St. on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. It’s free but donations will be accepted to benefit the Hopkinton shelter.
