5 Things You Need to Know Today: August 5

On Friday, we have line dancing and big band music at the Senior Center and a performance from singer/songwriter Sara Thompson at Pejamajo Cafe.

  1. Singer/songwriter Sara Thompson will perform at from 8 to 11 p.m.

    According to the biography on her website, Thompson possesses "a voice like Susan Tedeschi, a soul like Janis Joplin and the sultriness of Norah Jones and Alicia Keys." Her music is described as "a mix of blues, soul, R&B, pop/country and contemporary rock."
  2. The will hold its weekly line dancing session at 10 a.m. According to the Center's August newsletter, line dancing is "a great way to get exercise and meet new friends, not to mention learn how to dance." No partner is necessary and a $3 donation is requested.

    Also at the Senior Center, Lou Ranieri and his band will play their weekly concert at the from 1—4 p.m.
  3. Tales and Tunes for Tots will be held at the from 10:30—11:15 a.m. The event features stories and songs for little ones from infants through three-and-a-half years old.
  4. There will be a complimentary wine tasting at from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
  5. The weight room will be open at 5:30 p.m.
