1. The weather is supposed to be clear and calm today, with no threat of the thunderstorms that canceled Tuesday's concert at Goodwill Park. It will be hotter, though, with a high of 85 expected in Holliston.
2. The Upper Charles Trail is one big step closer to completion, thanks to a nearly $50,000 state grant the town received from the state. A flurry of recent activity has Holliston bidding to be the second town to finish its phase of the five-town trail, after neighboring Milford.
3. Rolling Thunder is coming. No, that’s not a weather forecast. Selectmen have approved an event permit to allow the motorcycle group’s Ride for Remembrance 8 to come through Holliston on Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011. Between 125 and 160 motorcycles are expected to roar through town at about 11:45 a.m.
4. Your mobile phone might seem faster in a few weeks. Verizon announced it will flip the switch on its 4G LTE wireless network in Holliston on Aug. 18. Twenty-five other towns and cities in the MetroWest area will get the service, capable of speeds 10 times faster than the existing 3G network.
