5 Things You Need to Know Today: July 6

Settle in for some good storytelling with Diane Edgecomb at the Holliston Public Library.

  1. Storyteller at the at 10:30 a.m.

    Using engaging narratives, animal characters, songs and home-spun wisdom, Edgecomb will take guests from the heart of the Amazon rainforest to the Czech Republic and the villages of Africa.

    The event is appropriate for people of all ages. Children under 4 must acompanied by their parents.

  2. The weight room will be open at 5:30 p.m.
  3. The serves lunch on most Mondays and Wednesdays from September through early July.

    Meals, which are catered by , are $3 and include a drink and a roll with butter. Attendees are asked to sign up in advance.

    On Wednesday, the Center will have Caesar salad, barbecue pulled chicken, potato salad, cole slaw and fruit trifle.
  4. The Holliston Sportsmen's Association (137 Bullard St.) will be holding its July meeting at 8 p.m.
  5. According to weather.com, the temperature will hit 90 degrees with an overnight low of 68 degrees.

    If you feel like cooling off with a swim, a lifeguard will be present at 's  beach on weekdays until August 12. Lifeguards will be on duty for limited hours on weekends. Please call the Parks & Recreation office at 508-429-2149 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to find out when lifeguards are scheduled.
