Want some decorations that none of your friends will have? Check out Garden Gate Florist to see what they have today.

Fresh cut flowers and springtime go together like peanut butter and jelly, and what better way to brighten a home than with  a unique square vase and an arrangement with a European flair.

Carrie Hurley White, the owner of located at 76 Main St., has been in the flower business most of her adult life and opened in Hopkinton in 1999.

“I grew up in Hopkinton and I have always worked for florists,” Hurley-White said. “Growing up working for a florist worked with my schedule work. I needed sporadic part time work and the money, and most florists need seasonal and holiday help.”

Hurley-White and her team are happy to come into your home for a consultation.

“We are happy to come into your home and offer ideas,” Hurley-White said. “We decorate with plants and flowers, and we’ll make recommendations.”

Hurley-White is known for her unusual eye.

“My customers know that if they see something they like they should grab it,” Hurley-White said. “I don’t buy in large lots. If I see something while in New York I’ll buy one or two. I love to buy from small companies.”

Hurley-White also offers some accessories including, but not limited to, bird baths, container gardens and other unique pieces.

“I carry hydrangeas, peonies and verbena,” Hurley-White said. “I don’t carry many carnations as I like a more gardeny look.”

Hurley-White is available by appointment for a personal consultation or you are welcome to stop by the store to see her work. She is open Tues. to Fri. from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sat. 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“We offer great customer service and stand by all of our products,” Hurley-White said.
