SVT hosting free workshops for collecting data on local plants and frogs

Sudbury Valley Trustees offering free training workshops for two national Citizen Scientist programs at Wolbach Farm, 18 Wolbach Road in Sudbury.
Project BudBurst ( www.budburst.org) is a nationwide network of people who monitor plants as the seasons change. During this family-friendly workshop you will learn how to collect data on local plants and upload them to Project BudBurst. Participants will contribute to a better understanding of plants and climate change. Offered April 18, 1:00 - 2:30 pm and June 22, 6:00 - 7:30 pm.
FrogWatch is a citizen science program that collects data on frog species distribution and abundance throughout the U. S. A certified instructor from the Buttonwood Park Zoo in New Bedford will lead this free training on habitat and frog call identification. The workshop will have a classroom portion that will include Frog ID and Wetland ID training, as well as a field portion where we will apply that knowledge through making actual observations.The program is 2.5 hours followed by an optional Certification Assesment. Participants may opt to take the Certification Assessment at the end of the workshop to qualify as Certified FrogWatch Volunteers. Offered April 15, 6:00 - 8:30 pm
