Hopkinton
resident Laura Steele will be performing in the refreshing telling of the favorite
story, Anne of Green Gables, true to
the much beloved book. Adapted by Sylvia Ashby, this family-friendly play has been charming audiences around the world. Stern Marilla and her
warm-hearted brother Matthew hope to adopt a boy to work on their farm. But the
orphanage sends young, be-freckled Anne by mistake, and their lives will never
be the same. Her warmth and wit affects everyone around her -- even,
eventually, the cold Marilla. We
follow Anne through her rebellious years, her transformation into a young
woman, and her romantic pairing with Gilbert. Made up of a cast of teens as well as
adults, this production will bring laughter as well as tears as the audience
shares the story of this unconventional girl.
