Best of Winner: The Marathon Restaurant

The Hayward Street restaurant was tied for first in the polls, but comments pushed it over the top.

There are many in Hopkinton, but after more than 50 votes were cast in our inaugural “Best of Hopkinton” contest it became clear who the favorites were.

, located on South Street, is a favorite of businesspeople that work in the industrial park as well as Hopkinton residents that live across town.

“Our goal when we opened was to bring a higher quality of food and service then you would typically find in the burbs, so seeing that people are happy with what we’re doing is great,” owner Michael Tobins said.

If you’re going to try a sandwich at the restaurant Tobins said his favorite is the pulled pork sandwich, which is cooked in a smoker in true barbecue style.

One Patch reader also commented that the Rueben is a great place to start.

“Our Rueben is awesome,” Tobins said. “We cook the corned beef in house in a mixture of water and beer.”

In addition to sandwiches Tobins said the biggest seller at the restaurant is the burgers, both beef and turkey based. He said the build-your-own burger selection is always a hit.

Tobins said he used the business’s new twitter account to reach out and get fans of the restaurant to vote.
